Cassette Is A Voice Recorder That Makes Organising, Sharing And Transcribing Conversations Easy

iOS: You have a ton of voice recording apps for iPhone, but a lot of them don’t work super well. Cassette manages to offer up a good organisation scheme, solid recording features, and a handy, yet pricey transcription feature if you need it.

As a voice recorder, Cassette’s main strength is its organisation options. When you first go to record something, you can chose to create a new project or use an old one. From there, each recording gets dumped into that project, where you can bookmark as you go to help you with organisation later on. You can also add time-stamped notes at any point in a recording, which makes it easy to search for something later on.

The app also has a transcription feature built in, though you’ll need to sign up for a pricey subscription in order to make use of it beyond a 30 minute free trial. Even though you have to pay extra for the transcriptions, they all take place automatically on your device, so you don’t need to worry about them being uploaded to some random server somewhere. Transcriptions are useful, especially considering you can search through your recording afterwards. Still, if you don’t need transcriptions, you can use the app for free.

Despite its name, Cassette feels more like a notebook than an outdated dictation machine. If you’ve longed for an audio recording app with a robust organisation system but a clear concentration on audio alone, Cassette is worth a look.
