Dry instant oatmeal and most healthy toppings will make it through security. Once you’re on the plane, just ask a crew member for some hot water and you have a simple in-flight meal. Here are some suggested toppings:

  • Brown Sugar
  • Dried Fruit
  • Nuts
  • Peanut Butter
  • Ground Flaxseed
  • Roasted Veggies
  • Cheese

Some of these you’ll want to store separately from the oatmeal and some you can mix together in a plastic bag or airtight container for easy transportation. One benefit to storing toppings separately is that if one of them doesn’t make it through security, you can toss it without sacrificing your whole meal.
