How To Treat Stings And Bites From Nine Bastard Insects [Infographic]

Like the rest of our fauna, Australian insects are out to get you. If they’re not injecting venom with distressingly over-sized stingers, they’re gnawing into your soft parts with a fearsome array of mandibles. Nuke ’em all with a giant insect bomb; that’s what I say.

In the meantime, this infographic provides a handy cheat sheet for nine Aussie pests – including how to avoid them and what to do if you get stung.

Over the course of my life, I’ve been stung and/or bitten by pretty much all of these miniature areholes. The worst was the tick who managed to lodge himself into my Adam’s apple while holidaying in Sussex Inlet. What a dick.

The infographic below was compiled by HealthDirect Australia. In addition to factoids on each malignant beastie, it provides general avoidance tips, nest shapes to watch out for and treatment methods for different types of stings. Print it out and stick it on your fridge for future reference: you’re going to need it.
