This Video Is A Quick Primer On How To Read Sheet Music

Video: Learning to read music is like learning to read another language. Sheet music has a variety of dots, lines and symbols to tell you what and when to play. It all looks very daunting at first, but this video helps you break down some of the basics.

The most basic thing to understand when learning to read music is that some notes will sound higher than others, or also known as pitch. In the simplest terms, a music sheet tells you the pitch of the note you should play. While the video uses sheet music for piano, the principles can be applied to other instruments. Watch the video to get clear illustrations and learn the difference between pitch, rhythm, clefs, quarter notes and all the different musical notations.
