These DIY Stacked Containers Keep Snacks Organised And Easy To Reach

Snacks are a key to surviving a long trip. Whether you’re on a road trip or flying, this container tower keeps your snacks together and easy to grab. Here’s what you need to make your own in less than 10 minutes.

You need three or four containers that are the same size, 4mm thick nylon cord (the same length as your containers stacked on top of each other plus another 15cm), two plastic straws and a carabiner clip. The clip should be large enough to fit around whatever you want to attach your snacks to, like a loop on your bag or the headrest of a car seat.

Remove the container lids and mark the centre of each lid and the bottom of each container, trying your best to line them up. Drill a hole through each marking, using a bit as wide as your nylon cord. Cut the straws into pieces that are the same length as the inside of the container (from top to bottom). Tie a firm knot in the end of the cord, string one container on and then a piece of straw, then the lid. Repeat until all the containers are on the cord. Leave 5cm of excess cord at the top of the tower and tie a loop at the end of the cord. Hook the carabiner through the loop and your tower is ready to be filled with snacks.

Sure, you could just toss a couple of containers into your bag, but this tower keeps your lids and containers together. It isn’t waterproof, but it travels well, especially on a bag or in the car. You can also use this tower design for any small items that need to be stored separately but are used together, like a simple repair kit.
