Reader Linux Jess submitted this monochrome desktop, powered by Arch Linux, to our Desktop Showcase, and we couldn’t help but feature it. It’s clean, elegant, and simple to reproduce. Here’s how.
Linux Jess only has a couple of moving pieces for this setup, none of which will be unfamiliar to Linux users. Here’s what you’ll need if you want the same look:
- The Urban Shadows wallpaper by Paul Scott on Flickr
- Conky, a lightweight system monitor for Linux systems
- This custom Conky config
- The Sardi Icons by Erik Dubois to replace the default icon set
That’s about it. Just a few parts, but a really stark and modern effect. If you like the look and have questions about how to make it your own, just head down to Linux Jess’ kinja blog (linked below) to ask your questions — and to sing your praises over the desktop as well!
