In the unlikely event that you missed all the controversy last year, today's press conference relates to the worldwide safety recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphone due to a battery flaw that caused the device to overheat. In some cases, this resulted in the phone bursting into flames.
During today's press conference, Samsung is expected to reveal more technical details about what caused the safety issue. It will also outline newly implemented safety measures to its manufacturing process.
"Following several months of comprehensive investigations, Samsung executives will announce the cause of the Galaxy Note7 incidents and quality enhancement plan during a press conference in Seoul, South Korea," Samsung explained in a statement.
"Samsung Electronics, as well as independent expert organizations who conducted their own investigations into various aspects of the Galaxy Note7 incidents, will share their findings. In addition, Samsung will discuss the new measures the company has implemented in response to the incidents."
