Lodging eats up a big portion of your travel budget, so if you can find an affordable place to stay, you’ll significantly cut the cost of your trip. And for summer and weekend travel, business hotels are typically a cheaper option.

As GOBankingRates points out, business hotels usually don’t have all the fancy amenities of a resort hotel, but low vacancy rates often mean affordable prices.

“During the summer months and on weekends, [business] hotels are typically slower,” said savings expert Jeanette Pavini. “You’re more likely to get a good deal at these hotels if you book a room during those off-peak times.”
