Dealhacker: Get A 55-Inch 4K TV From Aldi For $499

Need a cheap 4K TV for Christmas? Aldi has you sorted: this weekend, the budget supermarket chain will be selling Bauhn’s 55-inch Ultra HD LED 4K TV for $499. Here are the details.

On December 17, Aldi stores around Australia will sell the Bauhn 55″/139cm Ultra HD LED 4K TV for just $499 as part of its Special Buys sale. A few short years ago, you could have added another 9 onto that number and it still would have been reasonably cheap for a 55″ 4K TV. Hooray for capitalism!

Now, the Bauhn 55″/139cm Ultra HD LED 4K TV obviously isn’t the best Ultra HD panel on the market by any stretch of the imagination. It comes with an inbuilt PVR recorder and HD tuner, ARC function, a 60Hz refresh rate, a 4700:1 contrast ratio and a one year warranty. The display boasts a native pixel resolution of 3840 x 2160 (but not HDR, unfortunately.)

These specs aren’t very impressive, but its pretty hard to beat for under $500. Provided you take the time to properly calibrate the display’s settings, you should end up with perfectly serviceable 4K pictures that leave 1080p TVs in the dust.

As you’d expect, stocks of the Bauhn 55″/139cm Ultra HD LED 4K TV are limited – you can expect most stores to sell out on the same day. We advice hitting your local Aldi store bright and early!
