An Empty Box Is The Best Gift You Can Give Your Cat

Before you toss out that empty cardboard box, think about giving it to your feline friend. They will love it.

It’s no secret cats love boxes. We’ve mentioned about some of the reasons why they like them before: they take comfort in small spaces because it makes them feel secure, and small spaces help them retain body heat.

But as Abigail Tucker, author of The Lion In the Living Room, explains in the Tech Insider video above, boxes also help them keep active.

House cats are basically apex predators that have been confined to a small environment, and, well, they get bored. Boxes activate their basic ambush hunting instincts, so they pop in and out of them like they’re leaping from grass for the kill. So if you forgot to get your cat something, just hold on to one of those boxes so they can play.
