Nothing is more refreshing on a hot day than a big, cold pitcher of boozy punch, whether it’s a normal punch, or you just made an extra big version of your favourite cocktail. Give your drink a little depth and surprising complexity with a couple dashes of bitters.

Many punches have sweet syrups and fruit juice in them, which is certainly tasty, but can get cloying and kind of one-note. Adding a few dashes of bitters helps balance out that sweetness with a little depth. They also bring another layer of flavour to your punch, much in the same way that they’re used in individual cocktails. Start with a dash or two of bitters, taste your punch, then add more as fits your taste.
