The Optus network is currently experiencing difficulties with many customers unable to access SMS. Optus is aware of the issue and is investigating the cause. Here’s what we know so far.
Updated: Normal services have now been restored. Here’s a statement from Optus about the outage:
“For approximately one hour today some Optus mobile customers experienced issues sending and receiving SMS due to a software issue. Not all customers attempting to send and receive SMS were affected. Optus apologises to customers affected by the brief outage.”
As reported on Aussie Outages, many Optus customers are running into issues with the telco, particularly when it comes to SMS. Affected areas include Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Northcote, Perth, Ferntree Gully, Richmond, Ryde and South Yarra.
