Cut Thick String With Your Bare Hands

Cut Thick String With Your Bare Hands

If you need to cut a piece of string or thin rope and you don’t have any tools around, try this quick and easy trick.

In this video, Scott Wadsworth of the Essential Craftsmen YouTube channel demonstrates a quick and clever technique for cutting string without any tools. Just pull the string taut, wrap a portion of the string around your hand a couple times as shown in the video and make a back and forth motion. The string-on-string friction will saw right through it. You might want to practise the technique with some gloves on, however. The friction that’s cutting the string might get your hand too if you’re not deft enough. And if you’re worried about getting some string burn, you might want to try and snap it instead.
