Google’s Cute Halloween Game Is Today’s Perfect Time-Waster

Each year, Google creates an interactive Halloween Doodle for fans of this spooky festivity. Today’s highly addictive offering is called Magic Cat Academy and involves saving Momo the cat from a horde of invading spirits. Here’s how to play.

Magic Cat Academy includes five levels set in a school environment: the library, cafeteria, classroom, gym, and the building’s rooftop. Your job is to thwart the invading apparitions by swiping different patterns with your cursor.

Apparently, the inspiration for this year’s game came from a real-life black cat owned by one of the developers. Here’s the spiel from Google’s “Meow-loween Team” (oh dear):

Happy Halloween! Grab your wand and help fend off a ghostly catastrophe. Press play to swipe spells, save your friends, and help restore the peace at the Magic Cat Academy.

This year’s Halloween Doodle follows freshman feline Momo on her mission to rescue her school of magic. Help her cast out mischievous spirits by swiping in the shape of the symbols above the ghosts’ heads. And you’d better pounce fast—the ghost that stole the master spellbook is getting away!

We honestly can’t think of better way to waste 15 minutes on All Hallows’ Eve. How many points can you manage to get? Share your best scores in the comments!
