My Food Bag Has Closed Down In Australia

The fresh food delivery service My Food Bag is exiting the Australian market, with the company choosing to focus on New Zealand instead. The final deliveries were already sent earlier in the week. It’s a sad day for stay-at-home foodies.

The New Zealand-based Waterman Capital recently invested in My Food Bag ahead of a planned sharemarket listing. While this presumably is good news for the My Food Bag brand, it means that the service will no longer operate in Australia. Here’s the official announcement on My Food Bag AU site:

We’ve closed My Food Bag Australia. Final deliveries have been made Mon 17th of October.

For those unfamiliar with the service, My Food Bag was a food delivery company that sent ingredients and corresponding recipes directly to customers’ homes. The emphasis was on raw, high-quality ingredients that you cooked and prepared yourself.

We’ll be sad to see My Food Bag go. It was one of the better food delivery companies on the market, with a good balance between price and ingredients. Prices ranged from $149 to $199 per week, which included all ingredients (minus staples), original recipes and delivery.

For those interested, you can read our in-depth review of the service here. (Hey, you never know when life might take you to New Zealand!)
