YouTube Tests Out New Community Tab For Sharing Pictures And Text

YouTube has wanted to be more than just a home for your videos for a while now. Now, the company is branching out in a less Google+-y way. Certain channels now have a Community tab where creators can post text and pictures.

The new feature was developed in collaboration with several YouTube channels including AsapSCIENCE and The Game Theorists. These collaborators will be the first ones to try out the new Community tab, but others will follow.

Fans can follow the Community tab and get direct notifications when a channel posts anything new. The hope is that YouTube creators will be able to keep in touch with their fans directly on the site without having to rely on external social networks.
