Xero Will Soon Let Small Businesses Do Accounting Through Facebook Messenger

Cloud accounting service provider Xero has developed a chatbox that lets its small business customers access information in their online accounting systems and automate tasks through Facebook Messenger. Here’s what you have to know.

In April, Facebook released its chatbox API, which could be used to automate content and customise communication on Facebook Messenger. Looks like Xero is all on-board, unveiling its Hey Xero chatbot which will be released later this year. Powered by Amazon Web Services, the chatbot will let businesses access the Xero Advisor Directory through Facebook Messenger. They can send a message to Hey Xero’s Facebook account to get recommends for suitable accountants or bookkeepers in their area.

Xero subscribers can query their accounts information and perform automated account maintenance tasks through Hey Xero on Facebook Messenger. For example, customers can check their account balance and send invoice reminders by sending specific messages to Hey Xero.

According to Facebook, more than one billion people around the world communicate on Messenger every month, and more than two-thirds of people expect to use messaging apps to talk to business.
