De-Clutter Your Wardrobe With Help From An Honest Friend

It’s time to start packing away winter clothes and bust out the spring and summer garb, so it’s a great time to say goodbye to the stuff you barely wore. It can be hard to judge outfits on your own, though, so invite over a kind, but very honest buddy.

When you’re not 100 per cent sure about clothing items, you need another pair of eyes that can tell you if you look good or not. That’s why Ann Lightfoot, a professional organiser at Done & Done Home, recommends you have someone over as a “lighthearted cheerleader” to help you pare down your wardrobe. Take all of the clothing items you didn’t wear or barely wore at all this season, and put on a fashion show for one. If they like something, pack it away for next year. If they don’t, toss it in the donation pile. The key is to pick the right person to help you. Lightfoot cautions against using a romantic partner since they will be inclined to always say you look great. Go with your most brutally honest friend or a sibling. They will tell you the truth while still wanting what’s best for you.
