What Are Those Giant Tyres In Gyms?

What Are Those Giant Tyres In Gyms?

No one questions dumbbells, barbells, bands and battle ropes being at the gym, but that lone tractor tyre? Seems like an odd waste of space. In truth, it can be used for unique and extremely challenging workouts. This video shows you a bunch you can do with that tyre for a total-body workout.

The most common exercise is the tyre flip. You squat down and lift the tyre onto its side, then push to flip it over. If reading about it didn’t make you feel winded, you can make the workout harder by flipping the tyre repeatedly and quickly over a certain distance. The other popular workout is the sledgehammer workout, where you pound the crap out of the tyre with a sledgehammer. It gets your heart rate way high and slays various core muscles.

While they sound like loads of fun, there are very specific techniques and good form to doing those workouts. This video goes over some key points on safely slamming down that sledgehammer, while this one goes over the tyre flip. We really don’t recommend running off to do tyre workouts without someone there to show you the ropes.
