Spotio Gives Spotify On Mac A Rdio-Inspired Skin

Mac: Spotify’s darker design is great, but it’s not for everyone. If you’re nostalgic for the light theme of the now-defunct Rdio, Spotio is a clever little hack that will reskin Spotify to give it a similar look.

Spotio essentially writes over your existing Spotify.app file. To install Spotio, download the app from designer Devin Halladay’s site, close your existing version of Spotify, then open up the new version (you’ll need to override Gatekeeper to do so). If you like the new design, go ahead and copy the Spotio file over to your applications folder to replace the official version of Spotify. It’s hard to say how long Spotio will exist for, or what exactly happens when Spotify inevitably updates its app. Still, Spotio is a nice proof of concept and a temporary respite from Spotify’s gloomy design.
