Night Mode Enabler Brings Back Android Nougat’s Night Mode

Android Nougat: For reasons mankind can’t yet fathom, Google keeps teasing us with a sweet Night Mode in Android betas, then yanking it at the last second. Fortunately, it’s still buried in the latest version. This app brings it back.

Night Mode Enabler does one very simple task: It re-enables the Night Mode quick settings tile in Android Nougat. If you haven’t enabled the hidden System UI Tuner, you’ll be asked to turn that on first. Once you have the Night Mode tile, you can tap it to enter the colour temperature-adjusted mode to make it easier on your eyes. You can even long-press the tile to adjust its settings and make it turn on automatically.

Of course, Google likely hid the feature for a reason. Don’t be surprised if it disappears in a future update, or if it’s buggy and breaks on your phone. This app doesn’t require root access or anything, but it’s still not officially recommended by Google.
