Some first dates lead to more dates and an exciting, loving relationship. The rest of them stop love dead in its tracks because certain red flags set off the alarm bells in your head. So tell us, what are your biggest red flags when you start to date someone?

First dates let you see if you connect with the other person, but they also let you catch a real glimpse of who they really are. It’s true that everyone looks out for different red flags when it comes to dating, but some red flags are nearly universal. Maybe your date treats the wait staff poorly, maybe they won’t stop talking about themselves, maybe they refuse to accept your perspective on things, or maybe they can’t seem to stop looking at their phone.
If possible, keep your advice away from things that are related to your personal preferences. For example, saying you don’t like guys who wear polo shirts is a personal preference and not very helpful for others. However, you could say that someone who doesn’t dress somewhat nicely for a first date could be considered a red flag. Whether it’s advice for a first date, or for the first few months of dating, share your biggest red flags in the comments below.

1. Lack of eye contact, or too much eye contact with the waitress, bar person
2. Bragging and conversations that are 90% ‘I’
3. Dressing down …like I’m too cool for this
4. Agreeing but not listening
5. Any signs of aggressiveness, drunken verbal abuse I’m out of there!
I agree 100% but would add ‘inability to participate in conversation’ it just sitting there waiting to be entertained, giving single word replies and not actually making an effort to engage. Fuck I hate that, being treated like I’m there to entertain them.

How they treat the wait staff
Is that really fair, when we all know how you treat Alfred, your long-standing butler and pal? 😛
Alfred knows what’s good for him
Talking about an ex more than once
Definitely this, Talking about an Ex on the first date is a big red flag for me.
Thinks Andrew Bolt has a point.
