Strengthen Your Network Connections With Monthly People Checklists

There’s more to networking than meeting a bunch of people. You need to stay in touch with your connections and make yourself someone of value to them. A monthly checklist will keep you on top of things.

At the beginning of each year, Alison West, the director of Yoga Union, uses Trello to organise a task list for each month. She then puts the name of everyone she wants to stay connected with in the January board, and attaches a checklist to each person’s name. West’s checklist includes tasks like “a helpful tip,” “thank you,” “lunch,” and “person to connect.” As each month progresses, she does one task per person every week. Once someone’s checklist is completed, she moves them to the next month. West’s approach is almost like a game, as well as a helpful reminder to keep in touch with important people. Your checklist doesn’t have to be the same as hers, but it’s a good place to start when you make your own.
