Shazam Can Now Automatically Identify Songs In The Background

Android: If you find yourself enjoying every song you hear at a bar or club but don’t want to pull out your phone to identify every song, Shazam can now keep listening in the background for as long as you’d like.

The new feature is called Auto Shazam. Just switch it on and the app will continually listen to any music that’s playing and won’t stop until you tell it to — for up to six hours. Shazam says the feature’s been optimised to have minimal affect on battery life, but of course it will be somewhat of a drain. All the songs it overhears will then be added to your “My Shazam” tab for later.

So now you can crib the good taste of your favourite DJ, elevator music, or grocery store soundtrack automatically. Hey, whatever floats your boat.
