If you’re a DIYer, whether it’s woodworking, 3D printing, electronics, or whatever else, it’s really easy to get caught up in following a tutorial or guide. Artist Kate Harman reminds us to venture off that path sometimes.

Make Magazine recently collected together a series of tips from a variety of DIYers, but Harman’s quote stood out to me the most:
There is no right way to make something. While tutorials and DIY kits are great, making is ultimately about experimentation, innovation, and bringing together tools and methods from different disciplines to accomplish new and exciting things!
