Give Your Pancakes A Flavour Boost With Infused Maple Syrup

Real maple syrup is pretty perfect as is, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be jazzed up every once in a while. To add extra oomph to your pancakes and waffles, consider trying one of these delicious syrup infusions from The Kitchn.

All five of their recipes speak to me in a deep and meaningful way, but I am mostly here for the Manhattan maple syrup, as I am all about finding new and exciting ways to incorporate booze into breakfast. To make this cocktail-inspired goodness, combine one cup of pure maple syrup with a tablespoon of whiskey, two or three orange slices and a couple maraschino cherries. Bring this all to a simmer, and cook for five minutes. Remove from heat and let fruit steep for ten minutes, then remove the orange slices.

You should obviously drizzle this all over your favourite bready brunch item, but I’m not opposed to dunking some fried chicken in there. If you wanted to get really meta (and a little tipsy), you could stir a little bit into a Manhattan for a sweet take on the classic cocktail.
