When a bolt is really long, removing a nut from it can be a huge pain. You can’t use a normal socket wrench and if there’s not enough space around the bolt, you can’t use much else. This DIY PVC tool should do the trick.
In this video from youtuber Shake the Future, you’ll learn a clever trick to make removing nuts from long bolts a piece of cake. Get an extra-long piece of PVC pipe with a diameter that’s a little smaller than the bolt you need to remove. Heat up the end of the pipe with a heat gun, candle or lighter, then form the moldable PVC over a nut that’s the exact same size as the one you need to remove. When it cools, remove the nut and you’ll have a tool that can loosen nuts on almost any length of bolt. You can also attach it to a power drill to make loosening and tightening even easier.
