Calm Your Nerves When Flying By Packing A ‘Feel-Good Kit’

Even if you fly regularly, it can still be nerve-wracking. You can calm yourself a little each time you fly by packing a kit filled with things that increase your comfort and cheer you up.

We all have little things that make us feel more at ease, be it a favourite candy bar, a personal photo, or even some hand sanitizer. That’s why Lauren Kodiak at The Kitchn packs similar items in a “feel-good kit” to help fight off her nerves when she flies.

Kodiak’s kit includes ginger chews, peppermint tea bags, an eye mask, some ear plugs, a travel-sized bottle of moisturizing facial mist (less than 100ml), and sweet treat of some kind. Not only do those items make Kodiak more comfortable on the plane, she explains that just the act of packing the kit makes her feel better before the trip.

My feel-good kit would have some hand sanitizer, a Twix bar, a mini bottle of scotch (to be consumed before boarding), a few bucks cash to buy a drink on the plane (in case they don’t take cards and it’s not free), a deck of cards so I have something to fiddle with, and a small notebook for doodling and writing.

What would you pack in yours? Let us know in the comments.
