Properly Rewrap A Bicycle Tube By Starting Opposite The Stem

Rewrapping a bicycle tube is a simple enough process, but done incorrectly, you end up with a bit of air in the tube that wastes space. Global Cycling Network shows you how to do it right.

This is a bit of common sense, but it’s also one of those things that most people don’t put much thought into. If you need to rewrap a tube, start by spreading it out with the stem opposite you, make sure the valve is open, then wrap it up starting at the opposite end of the stem. When you’re done, screw the valve closed, unravel it, then wrap the tube around the stem itself. With that, it will be just like you pulled it out of the box.
