Upcycle A Plastic Bottle Into Some Durable String

Upcycle A Plastic Bottle Into Some Durable String

Don’t throw away that empty plastic bottle yet. You can make some super durable string with it using a few basic hardware components.

If you have some empty plastic bottles lying around, Instructables user Ehlers_TV has a clever method for turning would-be waste into some handy materials. With a cheap pencil sharpener blade and a few washers and screws, you can slowly peel away the bottle into a long strand of plastic string. Start by carefully removing the bottom of the bottle with a safety knife, then spin the bottle against the blade as demonstrated in the video above. You’ll be left with a batch of plastic string you can use for whatever you like.
