Six Ways Drinking Alcohol Makes You Healthier [Infographic]

At the start of each year, many of us begin to re-assess our drinking habits to make up for our New Year’s Eve debauchery. But don’t go teetotal just yet. By employing moderation and intelligent choices, it’s possible to drink alcohol without affecting your health. In fact, it can even be good for you.

Healthy lifestyle site Art Of Wellbeing produced the infographic below based on a range of scientific studies. Collectively, it suggests that occasional drinkers may be better off health-wise than abstainers. The key is not to overdo it (well, duh). You should also try to avoid hangovers and choose your tipple wisely — clear spirits and wines are considered best, while beer is best avoided due to its high-calorie content.

Bear in mind that these tips might not work for everybody and there are competing studies that advise non-drinkers to continue abstaining. Regardless of the benefits or lack thereof, the tips contained in this infographic are certainly preferable to getting smashed on a regular basis. Everything in moderation.
