Alton Brown knows a thing or two about kitchen gadgets, and making sure they’re multipurpose. In this hilarious video from the Daily Dot, he makes fun of some more colourful ones, and explains why most of these “unitaskers” aren’t worth your money.
In the video, Alton reads some Amazon reviews a number of popular kitchen tools that really exist for one purpose (maybe a few if you really stretch) and explains why they’re useless at worst and funny at best. Even if you use them for their intended purpose, they will just take up space the other 364 days of the year that you don’t actually use them. Starting with a simple (but pretty useless) strawberry slicer and ending on the infamous Rollie Eggmaster, it’s a tour de force of horrible kitchen gadgets.
The whole thing is tongue firmly-in-cheek, and while you probably won’t learn anything you don’t already know about some of the flimsier kitchen gadgets out there, it’s an entertaining watch. And of course, if you’re not convinced, you can always ask us to review one of these for our Lifehacker Reviews Anything series.
