Sometimes getting yourself on a productivity hot streak isn’t about taking on the toughest things first or maximizing your time. It could just be a matter of feeling good about what you’re doing. If you’re looking a for a refreshing way to approach your to-do tasks, AJ Agrawal at Inc. suggests you focus on the things that will make your day seem fulfilling when it’s all said and done:

Instead, every morning write down three things that would make the day great. This could include going to the gym, filling out that company report, or taking your wife on a date. Focus on the things that will be in your control. By focusing on just the three things will make the day great, you give yourself a much higher chance of feeling accomplished by the time you go to bed.

Some things will be more productive than others, but you’ll feel good and get the ball rolling so you can take on those tougher tasks. Just be sure to keep your three things with your reasonable control. It’s certainly a different way to approach your to-do list, but it just might work wonders. So ask yourself, what three things would make today great?
