You Can Now Get Visual Studio As A Cloud Subscription Service

Micosoft is now offering Visual Studio Professional and Visual Studio Enterprise as subscription services on a monthly or annual payment basis. The vendor has set up a new Visual Studio Marketplace where you can subscriptions which can be billed with Microsoft Azure cloud services.

Visual Studio is used for the creation, deployment and management of applications across a number of platforms. Microsoft clearly wants to integrate Visual Studio more with its Azure public cloud platform because it’s offering subscribers US$150 per month to use on Azure services.

Here’s how the new subscription service compares with a standard licence:

Visual Studio standard subscription: Includes perpetual use rights for the Visual Studio IDE and a subscription to comprehensive benefits that help you manage the development process end-to-end. Visual Studio with MSDN is available through the Microsoft Store and Microsoft volume license resellers.
Visual Studio cloud subscription: Gain the flexibility to choose the duration of your Visual Studio IDE license, plus access to comprehensive benefits when you select an annual commitment. Visual Studio subscriptions are available through the Visual Studio Marketplace.

A monthly subscription costs US$45 per month while the annual option is US$539 per year.
