Microsoft Releases Update For Office Developer Tools For Visual Studio 2015

Microsoft has made its first update for Office Developer Tools For Visual Studio 2015 available along with a preview of some features developers can expect to see in the next round of improvements.

Here’s what the Update 1 includes:

  • Vocabulary change in the tools: Apps for Office and SharePoint are now known as Office and SharePoint Add-ins
  • Bugs fixed: Rectifies a number of problems including the Office/SharePoint node not appearing under Visual C# in the New Projects dialogue.

Microsoft has also released a preview of what users can anticipate in the next round of updates which shows a few key features:

    Add-in commands
    There is a new project type called Outlook Add-in with Commands. Add-in commands let you add a button on the Outlook ribbon to launch the add-in, display a menu or execute a custom JavaScript function.
      SharePoint development tools
      The preview carries templates for developing SharePoint farm and sandboxing solutions for the SharePoint 2016 Beta 2.
