Google Adds Business Holiday Hours To Maps And Search

Nothing puts more of a damper on your holiday spirit than making a last minute run to a store that’s not even open. To help you avoid that, Google Maps and searches will now show upcoming holiday hours for businesses.

The update, that went live last week, shows you whether or not a business will have a special schedule due to an upcoming holiday within the next seven days. This will save you some time because you won’t have to call the business to check, and you’ll never show up to a store at the wrong time. If a business doesn’t have their exact holiday hours listed, you’ll at least see a message that says the upcoming holiday may affect their normal listed hours (so you know you may need to call). Furthermore, if it’s already the day of the holiday, you can use the “Open Now” filter to only see what’s currently open. These updates are also in effect globally, so all holidays will be covered wherever you are.
