Office Online Adds A Chrome Extension And Skype Integration

The free web-based version of Microsoft Office just got much better. Now you can now quickly open or create a new Office Online document from the Chrome extension or use Skype instant messaging or video calling within an open Office document.

The Chrome extension is a handy way to create a new document and there are fewer steps now to opening an Office Online file on OneDrive. Click on the Chrome extension to do either.

Skype in-app integration was added to Office 2016 on the desktop last month, but now it’s integrated into Office Online as well. While co-authoring a document, you could have a conversation about it in a Skype sidebar as well, all through your browser.

Check out other additions to Office Online, such as a 40% smaller Office on Android app and improved Visual Basic Editor on Office 2016 for Mac below.
