Energize Your Mornings With This Vintage Strongman Routine

Energize Your Mornings With This Vintage Strongman Routine

A cup of coffee can get you moving in the morning, but it’s not the only way. This uplifting routine doesn’t require any special exercise equipment, and will get your blood pumping so you can wake up.

In this video from the Art of Manliness YouTube channel, Brett McKay demonstrates a “get up and go program” that will help you snap out of your grogginess. The exercises presented come from old time strongman routines, but they’re designed not to be strenuous or tiring, only invigorating. For example, you can crumple up sheets of newspaper into paper balls only using your hands. Then you can squeeze the balls of paper about 75 times in a minute to strengthen your grip and get the blood pumping. You can also do arm circles rotating forward and backward, or alternate raising your heels and toes for a minute. Whether you do the whole routine or just pick out a few exercises, you’re bound to find something that helps kick your morning into gear.
