Dell Updates And Beautifies Workstation Laptop Lineup

Dell has redesigned its range of mobile workstations, making them thinner, lighter and better looking than their predecessors with a significant improvement in performance. We have the details on the four new Dell Precision mobile workstation laptops that are aimed squarely at professional users.

This time around, Dell has launched the Precision 15 5000, the lightest, thinnest and smallest workstation it has ever made. It is the world's first 15-inch workstation with an InfinityEdge display which gives you as much screen space as possible.

The Precision 17 7000 is Dell's most powerful workstation that comes in a 17-inch and a 15-inch version. The Dell Precision 15 3000 is at the low end of range but still has some decent performance enhancements and is 26 percent thinner and 12 percent lighter than the previous model.

According to Dell, the design of these new workstation laptops was influenced by feedback from customers across a variety of sectors including media and entertainment, engineering, manufacturing and finance. The general consensus from customers is that they wanted high performing systems to handle their critical workloads.

In response, Dell is offering configuration options for the new Precision workstation laptops that includes the first Intel Xeon processors for mobile workstations and future Intel Xeon processors E3-1200 prodcut families. In terms of the exterior, the new Precision workstations use carbon fibre and aluminium for the chassis for lightness and durability.

The new Dell Precision mobile workstations will be available next month and you can find out more over at Dell's website.

What interfaces do they have? Ever since the Raspberry Pi / Arduino / Beaglebone / Teensy explosion of popularity, the ability to interface with electronic gizmos has been sorely lacking from laptops.
I believe it's typically referred to as a "GPIO Port".
