Slash Keyboard Makes It Easy To Text GIFs, Videos And More From One Spot

iOS: If you want to text someone a GIF or a song, you usually have to copy and paste the link from another app. Slash Keyboard eliminates this step with an iOS keyboard that lets you share GIFs, songs, videos, and more directly from your texting client.

Once you download Slash to your phone, you’ll have to add it from Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards. The app gives you step-by-step instructions for accessing it, which isn’t terribly difficult.

Once you’ve got it installed, you can access the Slash keyboard next time you sent a text. From there, you just tap or type “/“. You’ll then see a list of apps: everything from Giphy to YouTube to your contacts to Foursquare. You can share info from any of these apps directly from your texting client.

For example, if I want to share a YouTube video, I tap the “/,” then tap “youtube.” I’d then type in whatever video I’m looking for. Slash automatically searches as you type, and then you just tap on the video you have in mind. From there, you can paste it directly into the text.

It’s convenient and fun, but keep in mind: Slash does collect info about your activity with their app:

In an ongoing effort to improve the Slash Keyboard, we may automatically collect certain information when users access and use the Slash Keyboard. Such information includes, without limitation, IP addresses, browser type and language, referring and exit pages and URLs, date and time, amount of time spent on particular pages, what sections of the Slash Keyboard users visit, log files, and similar information and data.

They say they take reasonable steps to keep your info safe, but before giving it a try for yourself, you’ll want to read their full privacy policy here. You can check out the app itself at the link below.
