Peel A Tomatillo In Ten Seconds With Boiling Water

Peeling one tomatillo isn't that big of a deal, but removing the papery, sticky skins from a whole bushel can get kind of tiresome. Luckily, Andrew Zimmern has a tip for peeling them in ten seconds. (This also works with garlic!)

All you need is a pot of boiling water. Dunk those tomatillos in there for about ten or fifteen seconds, fish them out, and gently pull on the skin. The whole papery mess will slide right off, leaving you with a perfectly clean tomatillo, ready for salsa.

Tomatillo are Mexican tomatoes popular in salsas. While rarely mentioned by name, they are far from unknown in Australia - they are even grown and manufactured locally.
