Android/iOS: Mindfulness has become a bit of a buzzword lately, but what it essentially comes down to is being present and focused. For some of us, this takes effort, and Zenify can help you work on it.
People are often sceptical of mindfulness and meditation, writing it off as a touchy-feely, New Age principle. But there’s a lot of evidence that suggests it has practical benefits. We discuss them in this article, where we also tell you how to get started with mindfulness.
It sounds easy enough, but for many of us, it takes practice. Most people live around a bunch of distractions, constant stimulation, and consumption. It can be hard to just stop and focus on the present. An app like Zenify can put you in the right direction by sending you reminders to focus throughout the day.
You sign up and adjust your settings to tell Zenify how frequently you want to be notified and during what hours it’s okay to send you those notifications. From there, the app will alert you during your set hours with reminders or meditative activities. You’ll examine a painting or listen to some music, for example. Or, it will just tell you to remember to meditate.
The interface can be a little cutesy; it tracks your “progress” by bumping you up to different levels when you complete tasks. I’m more interested in the reminders and tasks themselves than the progress, but it’s an easy enough feature to ignore.
If you have trouble making the time to meditate during the day, it’s worth checking out. Give it a try at the link below.
