Moving is a lot easier when you streamline your packing. But many of us just toss our junk in boxes and say we’ll figure it out when we get to the new place. On more than one occasion, I’ve ended up with a box of unidentifiable cords. An easy fix: simply label those cords.
It can be time consuming to figure out which cords go to which device, and labelling them fixes the problem. Just fold a piece of tape over the cord, then write “TV” or “printer” or whatever device it goes with.
The tip comes from Apartment Therapy, and while it’s incredibly simple, I’ve never thought to do it myself, and it can save a lot of time. Check out the rest of their tips at the link below.

An even easier tip that I learned from my missus – get those large resealable sandwich bags and put both device and cable in together. No more mystery cables, and has served us well over multiple moves.
I’m not convinced it’s necessary for A/V cords which are generally colour-coded anyway, but I have done this on the cables for my laptop and external hard drives. I found out the hard way that the cord from the former will fit the hole for the latter, with predictable results.
