In hot weather, a great option is to end your run at a swimming pool — or run at a park that has a lake you can jump in. You can also plan your route to end at a snow-cone stand or the treat of your choice. (Yeah, yeah, calories calories.) In a pinch, you can pack an icy cold drink in a thermos or insulated lunch box, and stash it in your car for immediate post-run refreshment.
When the weather turns chilly, substitute hot cocoa. And any time of year, ending your run at your favourite bar or restaurant (especially if you’ve gone out with a running buddy) is a great way to turn an ordinary run into an outing you’ll look forward to.
