Ask Kids About Their Favourite Things To Get Through Awkward Small Talk

If you’re at that age where all you friends and family have kids, you know the awkwardness that comes when you need to have small talk with those kids. Over on How To Do Everything, they suggest you ask basic questions.

You can start with the simple stuff, like “what’s you favourite colour?” “what’s you favourite movie?” and move onto something like, “is there anything important that’s happening with you?” It’s all pretty simple, but that’s kind of the point. Kids aren’t going to ask you questions, you have to take that lead, which if you’re already bad at small talk is hard enough as it is. But kids love to answer questions, so as long as you can do that, you can make that situation a little less weird.
