The burger shops below have been crowned the tastiest in Australia by travel site TripAdvisor based on customer reviews. While this is by no means a fair or accurate ranking system, it's safe to say that all of these restaurants will provide a perfect burger fix. As you can see from the list, Queensland appears to be the best location for burger lovers, with a whopping six slots taken up by the Sunshine State.

If you're feeling peckish, head down to whichever one is closest and order a burger with the lot. (Or if you have some time up your sleeve, plan an odyssey across the country to try all ten.)

#1 Burger Lounge (Coolangatta, Queensland)

Tasty sides include crispy fries, onion rings and buffalo wings.

#2 Off The Track (Port Douglas, Queensland)

Off The Track scored 4.5 out of 5 bubbles across 55 reviews. As the name suggests, it's a bit out of the way but by all accounts the detour is well worth it. Specialty burgers include the Texan burger and Crickey’s Burger which boasts a crocodile meat patty. The restaurant is also noted for its homemade sauces and relishes including a scorchingly hot sauce made from Carolina Reaper chilies.

#9 George's Hamburger Shop (Bairnsdale, Victoria)

They're purportedly like a souped-up version of the burgers you used to get in the '80s: big, greasy and amazing.

#10 8bit (Melbourne, Victoria)

8-bit scored 4.5 out of 5 bubbles from 32 reviews. This retro video game-themed restaurant is located on Droop Street in Footscray. It claims to serve Melbourne’s finest hamburgers and hotdogs. The Burger Lounge in Eltham, Victoria is amazing. Honourable mention to the roaming Mister Burger truck, also really good!

      Mr Burger is highly overrated.

Yeah, it's decent but not something I'd report on. I'd personally throw in the burgers over at Grand Trailer Park in Melbourne as my favourite.

Try the lamb burger at the beer and burger bar in Swan st, richmond, Vic. U will love it

The tuna sandwich I just ate for lunch, while delicious at the time, now seems horrendously inadequate.

On the plus side, hooray for Queensland! Looks like I have some coast trips in my immediate future.

Hey do you live in Queensland or something? Because I reckon that Melbourne has amazing burgers and you just mentioned one. I have reviews up on my blog franvsfood.com under Burger Quest and Jimmy's Burgers and Burgers of Melbourne have tons of reviews and they all look much better than the ones above

Not to mention that of all the Melbourne burgers they picked 8bit, one of the most hyped and overrated burgers around...

EXACTLY! 8Bit is one of the worst burgers in Melbourne. Grand Tailor Park Taverna is by far one of the best.

Take it form a burger aficionado in Adelaide, Nordburger is not the best burger joint.
IMHO you should go the following:
Burger Republic, 110 King William Rd, Hyde Park
Chuckwagon, 175 O’Connell St, North Adelaide
Burgastronomy, 19 O’Connell St, North Adelaide

Don't bother with those, just go to Fancy Burger instead.

id also add american cupcake diner on Norwood Parade as well.

Or if you want a good reference point join the Fatties Burger Appreciation Society on Facebook with over 10,000 members :), Their list would be rather different (consiting of 5 Point North Sydney, Pub Life Kitchen Ultimo, Mister Gee's Burger Truck, Cafe Ish Redfern, Mary's Newtown and Danno's Cafe Dee Why).

The problem I find with so many tasty burgers, is that they don’t have the structural integrity required to make the eating experience truly satisfying. I love a good burger, but I hate it when I literally cannot fit the thing in my mouth, and have to tear it apart like an animal.

I've been meaning to go to 8-bit

    Anyone been there?

Yes, along with the other 20 touted joints in Melbourne.

Tbh, i have had a lot of burgers and if you want that speed rush mid way through a burger from the amount of americanised fat and flavour in it.

DEFINITELY GO TO 8BIT. It DESTROYS all others in that regard.

Get the 8bit with bacon (have to try their signature burger) onion rings or chips with cheese, bacon and shallots. 8 bit sauce is boss and their salted caramel milkshake is to die for :D

My favourite burger place near the CBD in Melbourne is The B.East in Brunswick. Anybody been to both and can do a comparison between the two?

8Bit is abosolute over-hyped rubbish. I even gave it a second go to redeem itself. Rubbish Burgers.

I was going to go to 8-bit a few weeks back for the gamer vibes, but I made them myself for cheaper at home.....

eating out is so expensive! especially for a group of 5 people.

Brodburger in Kingston, ACT. Although I reckon they were nicer when they were serving it out of their red caravan, still one of the nicest burgers out there. There is a reason why there is often a 30+ minute wait...

      + 1 on Brodburger!!

I have sampled the finest burgers in the world and one comes out above all... a clear leader.

      Fergburger Queenstown NZ.

Loved Fergburger while I was in Queenstown I'd go there at least once every couple days and try something new.

I did a trip around both islands of NZ it ended up becoming a quest for delicious burgers ;)
        Wasn't let down.

This is the staple of the ACT and I will always take friends here when they are visiting.

Johnny's Burgers in WA are supposed to be the best around!

This is a pretty sub par list. Ive eaten at three of the places on the list and they do not even come close to beating a burger at Mary's in Newtown. Double cheese with trashcan bacon on that insanely soft bun....best Ive eaten.

GET YOUR SH*T TOGETHER TA! :)

      Mary's is damn fine.
But, you should try Five points in North Sydney.
The Bronx Burger. O.M.G. Best burger ever.

i love the Altered Beast at 8-Bit... hell of a cheese-and-bacon burger. Power up!

I don't see Hungry Jacks Ultimate Triple Whopper on this list?

If anyone is in Brisbane check your Ben's Burgers. You will not be disappointed. They do two burgers and they do them perfectly

Yeah but the no alterations malarkey is a little annoying. Especially when they "sell out" of the normal burger and wont do the chili burger, minus chili.

Noted! Will be giving them a go, so far I've tried many, many burger joints in brisbane and Chur Burger's pork belly is my pick, followed by miel container and if you're happy to head out of town Just Poppys in Riverhills has a ridiculously inclusive menu http://www.justpoppys.com.au/index.php/menu

ive actually been to poppys and youre right its amazing. The chips were special too. I'll give chur burger a try

Whaaaaat? No Ben's Burger in brisbane? Best burger in Australia, Hands down!

Jus Burgers in Perth and Kermond's Hamburgers in Warrnambool, Victoria. Kermond's are basic burgers but amazingly tasty!!

Bread and Bone in the CBD Adelaide, not only do they have amazing burgers but a beer to complement each burger as well!

Da' Burger in New Farm (Brisbane) is amazing. I just go sometimes just to have their chips mixed with mayo and tomato relish.

Don't even bother with 8bit worst food I've ever had wait in line for 30 Min and get cold food that was all over the place and fatty meat... Rather grilld

For melbourne you can't go past Fat Bob's on moorabbin and the pavilion in Dandenong has a secret burger menu that is amazing. 8 bit is really average greasy plastic cheese style burger the place itself is cool though.

Not surprising that a holiday destination site has a majority of its best burger list originating from holiday destinations..

The fact is people don't go to Sydney and Melbourne to eat burgers, so why would they go there, or if so, why would they write a review?

Getta Burger in Carina Queensland is NEXT LEVEL!
