Greetings! I’m the brand-spanking new journalist for Lifehacker’s IT Pro section. I’ll be dedicated to bringing you news and advice across all things enterprise IT, plus pieces here and there for the Work and Life categories. But first, let me tell you a little about myself.
Yes, Spandas is my real name and yes, I am aware that if you remove “s” from my name it spells “panda” (I’m okay with this). Since you will be seeing my byline regularly on the site, I thought I’d take this opportunity to fill you in on who I am.
Fresh out of uni, I worked as a technology and video games journalist for four-and-a-half years writing for various publications including ARN, ZDNet and GamePro. I tried my hand at public relations for two years but I never really stopped being a journalist and you may have seen a few pieces I’ve contributed to Lifehacker in the past (here and here). I also covered E3 Expo this year for Kotaku.
Now I’m back doing what I do best — writing stories, which I hope will not only be informative but entertaining as well. I love video games, comic books, motorcycles and Brazilian jiujitsu, so I’ll try and bring you advice on those topics too.
I look forward to interacting with you all in the comments section. You can also find me on Twitter at @spandaslui.

Hi Spandas (Panda), Now that is a great name (nickname) so hope it sticks.
I will be interested in reading your articles as with all the others that come through on this site.
Knuckle down use your skills, knowledge and researching ability to write the articles and then gain and learn a bit from the feed back and that is the “experience”.
Good luck.
Welcome, Panda.
We look forward to reading what you have for us.
Real life Kung-Fu Panda.
Great intro pic!
no reposts, no cut and pastes, no gif fueled one-tagline posts.
and please slap the shit out of the people in the office who DO these things.
or better yet, challenge them to a fight and Jiu Jitsu their asses.
I think you’re mistaking Lifehacker for another website. (We repost relevant US content but that’s it.)

im sorry? what?
whoever was in charge of this one could have at least done some conversions….
Haven’t seen a Jesus Diaz article in a while so maybe they’ve changed. (I refer to they as Giz/LH)
Jesus Diaz is now Casey Chan
Panda !!!!!!!! omg it’s so fluffy I”m gonna dieeee !
Ahem. Welcome on board.
The rest of the gang will be around later, probably arguing with the internet about spelling (blame Alex), the pixel background of a particular game (blame Mark) or actually being gainfully employed.
If we’d known we’d get such a kickass replacement when Alex left, we’d have kicked him out earlier ! 😉
Hope you enjoy your stay, and glad to have you with us !
Alex is still around… but I’m just a contributor, for whatever that means.
I think you seek that other Kidman. Dashed if I can remember that fella’s name…
Angus
You made me laugh with a chest infection – not good Alex, not good 🙂
Hey Panda, please don’t ride that little beast with bare feet. 😉
Love the pic and welcome.
Welcome! Looking forward to reading your articles.
Thanks for the kind words! 🙂
Naughty Spandas, dirty feet bring staph onto the mats!
