How To Handle The Work/Life Balance Question In Interviews

If you’re a parent and an IT Pro, you’re bound to get hit with a question relating to your work/life balance at some point. Here’s how YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki handled the tricky issue.

Asked about how she balances “entrepreneurialism and 5 children” at Fortune’s Fortune Brainstorm Tech 2015 conference, Wojcicki responded that

“I guess I like to create things.”

It’s a great, defusing answer that reflects back on the core values of the person in question, reaffirms their creativity (both biological and in reference to the work at hand) and allows you to get on with the interview.
