Work can become never-ending, always pulling at you to do "just one more thing", but overworking yourself even a little bit every day is a one-way ticket to burnout. Sujan Patel at Inc suggests you designate one of your to-do items as the day's final task ahead of time:
At the end of the day, laser in on one final task, finish it, and then call it quits. Don't let yourself be distracted by a bunch of half-done tasks that you'd like to mark off your to-do list.
Ignore everything else on the list for now and go about the rest of your day. Those other to-dos will still be there when you back to it tomorrow. Then do the same thing. Pick one task (something simple that has a measurable completion), then save it to cap off your day. You'll end each day with a sense of completion, and always leave at a good stopping point.
