Google Maps is packed to the brim with useful information about the world around you like when stores closed and how long it will take you to get there. Now, the app will combine those pieces of information to warn you that a store will be closed by the time you get there.
As Android Police points out, the notification (seen above) will appear if you begin navigation towards any location that will be closed by the time you arrive. Obviously, this will only work for a location that Google actually has hours of operation info on. Unfortunately, it still won’t tell you it’s a dumb idea to go to your friends’ house unannounced at 3am and ask to crash on their couch.

So this sounds like a great idea but be a little careful with Google’s opening hours. Last month wandering around Scotland using Google Maps I found a very large number of the tourist sites (particular Scottish Heritage sites) have totally incorrect opening times. Restaurants often close the kitchen before the official closing time, sometimes hours before. It’d be great if Google could add a “verified” tag to locations, to crowd source the realistic opening and closing times.
I’d prefer to be told before I get there rather than WHEN I get there.
The entire point of this very short article is about a system Google’s put in place to warn you of closing times when you BEGIN navigating there.
So the title of the article should be “Google Maps Now Warns If Your Destination Will Be Closed.”
It’s correct grammar that could be taken both ways. This is why it is a good idea to read the article before commenting. Good luck!
Thanks for the advise. Good luck to you to.
